On Sunday, November 1, 2015, at 2:00 pm Dominican Sisters of Hope will join with friends, families, co-creators, and loved ones to celebrate the lives of the departed Dominican Sisters of Hope. There will be a memorial liturgy followed by light refreshments at the Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center in Ossining, NY. Anyone interested in celebrating with us is welcome to attend.
In the past year, the sisters have mourned the loss of Sisters Anna Veronica Oncia, Charles Elizabeth O’Brien, Frances Whelan, Eileen Byrne, Mary Aquin McDonald, Janice Heery, Noreen Conheeney, and Anne Joachim Vari, among others. The memorial liturgy and refreshments afterward offer a chance to remember our departed sisters, celebrate their lives, and honor their legacy.
Please RSVP by October 16 to Sister Connie Kelly at ckelly@ophope.org. Please see (and feel free to share) the flyer below.

Looking for information on Sr Mary Jude from the 1960 who taught in St Cecelia’s Iselin NJ.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately of the wonderful teachers I had at Annunciation School in Crestwood, New York between the years of 1954 to 1962. I’m 68 now so I realize they are all deceased and are at home with the Lord.
I would greatly appreciate being able to read their obituaries so I know how they lived thei lives after I left them. I would also like to come up one day and visit their graves. I have much to thank them for.
These are the Sisters I would like to know about:
Sister Roseanne, principle
Sister Agnes William, one of the sweetest and happiest people I’ve ever known.
Sister Anne Thaddeus who has come to me in dreams many times over the years.
Sister Francis Xavier who made sure I knew.how to tell time.
Sister Francine, my 8th grade teacher. Oh, what a time we had learning how to diagram
sentences. Bless her heart, she never gave up on me even when I drove her to the brink of
total frustration. Somewhere in a box of old pictures, there is a picture of us together
on graduation day in June, 1962.
How very fortunate I was to have such special teachers, wonderful woman in my life.
I will always be grateful to them and often keep them in my prayers. Some people you just
NEVER forget. I will never forget them.
I would greatly appreciate any information you can give me about them and how their
lives continued after I left them with a firm foundation of faith, grew up and went on with
With my own life of more years of learning, marriage, motherhood, widowhood and
grandmotherhood. What an amazing journey. Thank God, I had my faith all through this
wonderful/tragic roller coaster of life. It’s all good !
Thank you very much ! I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely yours,

Veronica,
Thank you so much for your comment! It touches us and fortifies us to hear from previous students. We do have a page with recent (ish) obituaries; would any of these sisters be on that page? Check it out: https://ophope.org/remembering/
Thanks again!
