In partnership with FLIK Hospitality and CRP Sanitation, and in commitment to the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, we’re excited to announce the start of commercial composting in the dining room at The Center at Mariandale! We launched the program on February 1st, the Feast Day of St. Brigid of Kildare, matron saint of Ireland, and a “patroness of those who have a care for the earth.”

Did you know?

In the U.S., food is the single largest category of material placed in landfills.

The carbon footprint of U.S. food waste is greater than that of the airline industry, and globally, wasted food accounts for about 8 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions.

Composting is one of the ways in which we respond to the call of Laudato Si’. Read more about the composting journey of our sisters and staff here and here. And here’s more about how and why we care for the Earth:
