Thanks to all the staff and sisters who donated non-perishable food during our Thanksgiving drive for the food pantry at Holy Name of Mary Church in Croton! Special thanks to our vendor Enterprise Fleet Services (who caught the spirit and contributed a carload of items), and to Luis Villa who transported everything to the church. Luis said the volunteers who helped him unload were thrilled with the amount of donations. Click here to see a short video interview of Luis describing the drop-off.
Also, huge thanks to all who generously contributed to the Social Committee’s “Giving Tree,” in December, decorating it with 32 new winter hats, 27 pairs of gloves, 18 scarves, 118 pairs of socks, and 22 additional matching sets, plus assorted headbands, slippers, and kids clothes. Some beautiful items were hand-knit or sewn, or purchased from our Holiday Boutique, which the wider Hope family had a “hand” in crafting as well.
The gifts went to Sr. Mary Alice Hannan for the women and children of Desda’s Grate, and to Open Door in Ossining which provides medical care care for people living at or below the federal poverty line. Staff at Open Door said they came at just the right time, as they’d been running low on items to distribute at their community holiday celebration last weekend. If you haven’t had a chance to give, the trees will stay up through the end of the month. Please take a moment to scroll through the photos of some of the donations, and say a prayer for the child or adult who received them.
