Are you a millennial? You’re invited to The Center at Mariandale in Ossining from 10:45 am – 5 pm on Sunday, June 23rd for a Nuns and Nones meetup! We’ll share in community, contemplation, and discussion of how to dialogue in times of conflict.
Our world has no shortage of anger, quick judgements, and explosive speech. This is a day to focus on how we can be pillars of peace while still speaking our truth. Together, we’ll name tools for active listening and engaging in meaningful dialogue, even when both sides don’t agree or conversations become tense. We’ll talk about how to actually use these tools and set goals for follow-up in the coming months. We’ll also incorporate the four Dominican pillars: spirituality, study, community, and preaching in word and deed.
Tentative Schedule:
Morning: contemplative centering activity & table discussion
Lunch and open time on the grounds (labyrinth, pool, walking paths available)
Afternoon: discussion in pairs, large circle dialogue
Mariandale is 5 minutes away from the Croton-Harmon MetroNorth station (we will provide rides to/from the train). Our facility is handicap accessible. The day will include lunch, snacks, outdoor time (weather permitting), and optional swimming. There is no entrance fee, but donations are gratefully accepted.
*We have met our quota of Catholic Sisters who are interested in attending. We’re seeking millennial-only attendees (men and women of all backgrounds and faiths are welcome) at this time.
