Sister Stephanie Frenette, OP of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died November 3, 2025, in Plattsburgh, NY.  She was 84 years of age.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (Snide) Frenette, she was born July 11, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan.

Sister Stephanie entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Fall River, Massachusetts, in September 1959, made her First Profession in August 1962, and Final Profession in August 1965. Sister Stephanie earned her BA from Providence College.

Sister Stephanie taught at various schools during the span of her career, including, Dominican Academy Elementary School in Fall River, Massachusetts, from 1961-62, St. Peter’s Elementary School in Plattsburgh, New York, 1962-63, 1969-72, and 1977-2002; St. Bernadette School in New Haven, Connecticut, 1972-77. Sister also taught in religious education programs in Mooers Forks and Plattsburgh, New York, from 1963-69.

From 2002-2007, she worked as a home health aide for the North Country Home Services and Lake Forest Facilities, Plattsburgh, New York. Sister Stephanie served on the Leadership Board of the North Country Mission of Hope, traveling to Nicaragua twice a year on mission trips. She also volunteered for Hospice of the North Country and served as Eucharistic minister at St. Peter’s Parish in Plattsburgh.

Among her many interests, she loved to travel, (preferably by car so she could “see more”), loved to go on Mission to Nicaragua where she had a strong commitment to the disabled orphans, was a wonderful listener and loved hearing from her past students. Her greatest and most cherished moments were when she was with children.

Sister Stephanie is survived by her Dominican Sisters of Hope, her sister Joan Koson and brother Larry Frenette, and her nieces and nephews. Sister is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Irene Frenette, her nephew Shawn Watson and her niece Aimee Frenette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, New York.

A memorial mass and burial will take place at the Dominican Sisters of Hope Center at Mariandale, 299 North Highland Avenue, Ossining, NY on November 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the R.W. Walker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
