We Dominican Sisters of Hope, together with our Associates, are increasingly aware that our country and our world are becoming conditioned to violence. Around us, we see disagreement, disrespect, and intolerance unravelling into destructive words and actions.

Demonstrations in support of one cultural identity often take the form of denigrating another. And then there are those whose terrible loneliness or rejection drives them to destroy the kind of life that does not seem to welcome them.

We strongly condemn violence in all forms, including attitudes, words, and abuse, as a solution to any crisis.

As we work toward building healing relationships, we recognize the necessity of a holy recommitment to both the dignity of each person as a creature of God and to the transforming power of hope.
